Aquí, donde habitamos (Here, Where We Live) is a photovoice research project with the Ticuna Indigenous community of San Pedro de Tipisca on the Loretoyacu River in the Colombian Amazon. Between 2024 and 2026, community members used photography and narrative to document their connections to the forest, the river, and each other. The resulting exhibition panels are trilingual in Spanish, Ticuna, and image.
Below are a few examples, with images from the final workshop where the community as a whole engaged with the photo-text panels.
Photographs and texts are published here, in exhibition, and in academic contexts with the full knowledge and consent of community member-participants and with the consent and support of the community curaca (the elected political authority of the community).
Aquí, donde habitamos es un proyecto de investigación de fotovoz con la comunidad indígena Ticuna de San Pedro de Tipisca, en el río Loretoyacu, en la Amazonía colombiana. Entre 2024 y 2026, miembros de la comunidad usaron la fotografía y la narrativa para documentar sus conexiones con el bosque, el río y entre sí. Los paneles de la exposición son trilingües: en español, ticuna e imagen.
