The lure of the Grand Canyon is nigh irresistible. For this trip, I had an afternoon to spare and luckily for me, the North Rim was still accessible, though the snow was already starting to fall in early Autumn. The shortest hike I found was a 12 mile out and back - so I hustled because thats a lot of miles to get in before the sun goes down on a solo hiker on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Zion National Park is magical. I scheduled three days for wandering. But, I got stuck in a flood (see the Escalante photos) and ended up with just a half day. I left the crowds and the viewpoint and headed into the canyons.
Pure magic.
