Loei National Park in northern Thailand is not a heavily visited park. When we arrived the several park rangers at the visitors center froze, some with food half-way to mouths, in genuine surprise to see us. We want to spend the night and explore the park, we said. Huh, one replied. Movement ensued. They did have a place for us to stay - as mosquito infested a room we dun-ever-did-see. They were more than happy to take us on a couple hikes, often asking, why here? Hah! It was beautiful if not entirely picturesque. A few snaps - but the curled claw-leaves of that fern is among one of my favorites.
